Just consider a group of ten friends of yours. If one friend comes and tells you that there is a person in the railway station who is giving away 1,000 rupees to anyone who asks him. You won't believe him, will you? But supposing 7 of your 10 friends come and tell you that there is indeed a person in the railway station who is giving away 1,000 rupees to everyone who asks. I am sure you will believe, won't you? Now the objective of miracles is not only compassion but also to authenticate the ministry of a person, who in our case is the Lord Jesus Christ. In the days when He walked the earth He had to do miracles to authenticate his ministry. But today we have a cloud of witnesses who are coming and telling us that He is truly who He says He is. There is no need of further authentication through more miracles, you see. That is why i believe he does few miracles today, and if any, only out of compassion. But these are done under cover without anyone knowing it. Remember during His earthly ministry, he used to tell people he healed not to tell anyone. You know why? Even in those days he wanted people to come to him not because he fed them or healed them but because of who He is!
